Joseph Buckley, “Joe Boy” of Shawcrest,Cape May County NJ,  lived his life on his own terms, even up to his last days.  In the company of his nieces, nephews and wife- of 60 years-Irene, Joe peacefully left this world on Sunday eve, the 20th of November, at 82 years of age.

Raised in the rural Newtown Square area, Joe was a proud DelCo boy.  He was the son of James and Mary Buckley, and a graduate of Marple Newtown High School, Joe was full of stories about the antics of he and his brother, and stories of the nuns in his early school years.   Joe had a career at United Parcel Service, UPS, as a driver and later at the Shawcrest Community.

Joe's greatest joy was anything he did with Irene. This includes trips to the Buckely Ancestral homeland of Ireland, trips to Florida, cruises with Irene and friends or just watching his beloved Eagles games together.

Joe will be missed not only by Irene but by his sister Helen Delatour of North Cape May, his sister-inlaw Peggy Drew of Broomall PA and a community of supportive friends  He and Irene are grateful to their many nieces and nephews who have gone above and beyond to show their love and devotion to “Uncle Joe” throughout his lifetime, and especially in the last few months.

The Buckley siblings awaiting Joe’s arrival include sisters Joan Schneider, Betty Buckley, Jean Dodds and brother James.  Don’t forget his favorite dog ever, Brandy.

There are no immediate services planned, at Joe’s request.

Next time the Eagles play and you cheer “Fly Eagles Fly” , just think of Joe and cheer him on as well.
